Art Wall :: Collections

Over the years I have collected a pretty hefty amount of artwork. Some is my own, some my students, but mostly I end up collecting beautiful works of art by all of my talented friends. When Ivalle moved in, we joined forces and our art selection doubled up. We have a growing pile of artwork that usually sits in the garage waiting to be part of the rotation but we have started to set up little galleries around the house to display as much as possible in our tiny house. Here is an example of one of the little vignettes in the living room.

Here is a little key to explain each piece.

1. A watercolor painting by yours truly during high school. It was something I was very proud of at the time. Figuring out textures with watercolor is no easy task.

2. A lovely abstract painting my friend Sara. It has some secret banana messages to it and I just love the beautiful turquoise colors.

3. A collage made by our friend Chris. He is a dear friend of both of ours and this little montage is full of good energy.

4. An oil pastel project left behind by one of my beginning art students. I love their artwork so much. It's such a treasure to be able to see them learn and progress.

5. A print by a good friend of ours Ryan Berkley from Berkley Illustration. Ryan and Lucy have been good friends of ours for many years and continue to make inspiring art that we see popping up all over the place.

6. This Owl illustration was made by our friend Adrienne at arcane arts. She and Aaron are so much fun to get together and create with.

7. This artwork is one of my favorites. It was made by my grandmother when she was only in 8th grade. I love that it is signed and dated 31'. An original work of art by my very own grandmother from 1931!

A valentine's party recap

This post is about the time I stuffed 17 people into an 800 sq foot house to make handmade valentine's. It was a fun time. There were hearts everywhere. I still have heart remnants all over the place and I like it that way.

Tying The Knot

When Ivalle and I started talking about our wedding ceremony, one thing we were both sure of was that we wanted to tie a knot to keep forever. It turned out to be a really nice keepsake to hang on our wall. We used the background as a guestbook space for our friends and family to give advice and wishes. It is now hanging on our office wall to enjoy.

A Barn Party

Last weekend we had the pleasure of attending a barn party in central Oregon. There were bon fires, doggies, good friends, and fun times. We were only away from rainy Portland for one day and it gave us a boost of energy to blast into spring. Here are some of my favorite shots from the event.

Snappy

I've been working on my photography skills. I figured it's about time I get past the basic point and shoot. I'm taking it one step at a time and hoping to see some improvement in the near future.
